LOW GRAVY

(by Claude Hopkins & Joe Thomas)

Some live to eat, some eat to live
Some live to get, some live to give
Makes no difference what you do
    Here's a recipe for you

Put a fine pork chop in the frying pan
Turn the fire down low, and man oh man
Let it simmer on down, down, down to low gravy

Put a big fat biscuit in the biscuit pan
Make it nice and brown, and man oh man
Let the butter roll down, down, down to low gravy

Then you'll be fixed like the millionaire
	Whom everybody thought insane
Because he bought himself a carload of biscuits
	And a streamlined gravy train

When your fine pork chop is almost gone
And your appetite seems to linger on
Keep a-sopping on down, down, down to low gravy

Boys:	Mama? Is the gravy good?
Mama: Boys, it's the best in the neighborhood
Boys:	What did Father do when he came from town?
Mama: Boys, the old man kept sopping on down

Boys:	Hey Mama, how do you know?
Mama: Boys, 'cause my daddy done told me so
Mama: He told everybody for miles around
Boys:	That when the gravy's good...
	  Mama: Mmm-mmm!
Boys:	And the meat is sound...
	  Mama: Mmm-mmm!
Boys:	Then you get yourself a big fat biscuit
Boys:	And you sop it down, down, down

Then you'll be fixed like the millionaire
	Whom everybody thought insane
Because he bought himself a carload of biscuits
	And a streamlined gravy train

When your fine pork chop is almost gone
And your appetite seems to linger on
Keep a-sopping on down, down, down to low gravy

Low gravy, low gravy, oh yeah
