RABBIT

In Dorset, where I was born and bred
  Father always kept the family fed
We didn't have no ham, nor anything like lamb
  But Father, he went rabbiting instead

    As soon as we were weaned, we had rabbit
    Our plates were always cleaned, we had rabbit

There was:
	fried rabbit
	dried rabbit
	roasted rabbit
	toasted rabbit
	baked rabbit
	staked rabbit
Rabbit soon became a habit

Father, he would leave the house, 
  in search of pheasant, deer, or grouse
But all we ever had was 
  rabbit!

We all knew that Father was a-poaching
  On someone else's land he'd be encroaching
But we'd cheer him on his way, shout hip hip hooray
  Because we knew that dinner was approaching

    So every single day, we had rabbit
    Hot day, cold day, bleak day, we had rabbit

There was:
	boiled rabbit
	broiled rabbit
	young rabbit
	hung rabbit
	rare rabbit
	Brer rabbit
Rabbit soon became a habit

Father, he would leave the house, 
  in search of pheasant, deer, or grouse
But all we ever had was 
  rabbit!

At cooking meat my Mother she's a wonder
  She quickly shifted all of Father's plunder
As soon as she was able, she'd slap it on the table
  Ready for us kids to tear asunder

    In every fry-up, we had rabbit
    To fill every pie up, we had rabbit

There was:
	soused rabbit
	dowsed rabbit 
	tender rabbit
	slender rabbit
	fatty rabbit
	pattie rabbit
Rabbit soon became a habit

Father, he would leave the house, 
  in search of pheasant, deer, or grouse
But all we ever had was 
  rabbit!

Now you may think I looks a little funny
  But I'll bet you any money
You'd have a twitchy nose and teeth that all stick out
  If you'd been brought up on bunny

    For breakfast, dinner, tea, we had rabbit
    Continuously... we had rabbit

There was:
	old rabbit
	cold rabbit
	spiced rabbit
	diced rabbit
	steamed rabbit 
	creamed rabbit
Rabbit soon became a habit

	curry rabbit
	furry rabbit 
	grilled rabbit
	chilled rabbit
	tough rabbit
	enough rabbit
Rabbit had become a habit

Father, he would leave the house, 
  in search of pheasant, deer, or grouse
But all we ever had was 
  rabbit!
