SOUNDS OF SOLSTICE

(by David M. Brown)

We remember sounds of solstice
  through the seasons of the year
Children grow and friends may go, but the
  sounds of solstice still ring clear
Everything is constantly changing,
  seeking constancy
But the sounds of solstice serve to remind us
  not of what we are but what we might be

	Fa la lalalala la la, la lala la la
	  lalalalalalalala la la la
	Fa la lalalala la la, la lala la la
	  lalalalalalalala la la la

Hear the children sing the carols;
  let the child within you sing
Whence come feelings strong and joyous
  and the peace these feelings bring
Green and envy notwithstanding
  nor hypocrisy
For the sounds of solstice serve to remind us
  not of what we are but what we might be

	Fa la ...

Sing of joy and hope at solstice;
  only hope can conquer fear
Only kindness heals the hurting
  when the darkest times are near
As the earth tilts towards the sunlight,
  listen carefully:
The sounds of solstice serve to remind us
  not of what we are but what we might be

	Fa la ...
